Four Dances is an animated film made by Billy Steiger and Zara Joan Miller for TakuRoku. The film features four 'movement-drawings', or dances, each accompanied by piano recorded at Cafe OTO.
Zara Joan Miller is a British/Iranian artist working across poetry, performance and film. Her writing often situates itself in communal time(keeping) and space before taking root in the private body. BLUE MONDAY was published by JOAN Publishing in 2022 and her second book of poetry Year of the Dragon is forthcoming with TACO! Recent solo performances draw from ongoing research into abjection, lactation and personal ancestry. Her work has recently been presented at Ann Arbor Film Festival, Barbican Centre, Maximilian William Gallery, Les Atelier Claus, Horse Hospital, In Vitro, Default Den Haag and has appeared in motor dance journal, Fieldnotes journal, Hotel, Another Gaze and Worms Magazine. Blue Monday was also released as a duo LP with Ute Kanngießer on New York label Reading Group in 2023.

Billy Steiger was born in Howth on the 16th December, 1986. Now he plays the violin.
“Then he sat down by a pond and began to play a tune. As he played, the most extraordinary thing happened. One by one the fish in the pond began to jump out and fly about in the air. And what is more, they were all different colours and they were singing to the music.”
Patrick, Quentin Blake.
