Talker issue 4 features a conversation with the artist Sue Tompkins.
Tompkins is based in Glasgow and at the heart of her practice is a unique treatment of language. This finds form as typed works on paper, installations, paintings and live performances.
The interview focuses on how the performances are made and the live situations in which they are experienced. They discuss and speak about movement, migraines, parenthood and a desire not to leave the visual world.

Sue Tompkins is a British visual and sound artist based in Glasgow. She is best known as vocalist for the recently reformed indie rock band Life Without Buildings. Tompkins studied painting at the Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1994. Since 1997, she has worked collaboratively with the collective Elizabeth go (Victoria Morton, Sarah Tripp, Hayley Tompkins, and Cathy Wilkes). Sue Tompkins lives and works in Glasgow and is represented by The Modern Institute.
